FROM THE STATION OF THE EXALTED RULER

Dear Members:

First of all, I want to thank Harry Offerman for taking the time to get the Show Low Young Marines to our Flag Day in front of the traveling Viet Nam Wall at Green Valley Park, and the big tent for the ceremony.  All of the people who attended enjoyed it very much.

Thanks also to our people at Green Valley Park on the National Night Out – Dwayne and Beverly Cunningham and Adrianne Troutman for the food booth, and Eddie Armer for the Drug Awareness booth.  There was a very good turnout.  Thanks also to Adrianne and all of the volunteers for the Old Timers Dinner.

Remember that the volunteers for Friday Night Dinners are only volunteers, not paid employees, so remember them, as well as the bartenders and cook crews.  It takes a lot of time to make people feel welcome.

The Initiation Under the Stars at our Mother Lodge, Prescott Lodge 330, was great.  Our initiate, Bobbie Knorr, had a fine time.

Remember our RV Park Grand Opening on Sept. 6 at 4:00 p.m.  Bring the meat you want to barbecue, side dishes to share (optional), and cook out with us.  We have 12 sites with water and electric, and lots of parking.  Thanks again to all of the volunteers who have helped get the RV Park going.

Our District Director, Randy Evans, will be here on Sept. 4 for the initiation of new members.  And AEA Vice President, Al Skorupski and his lady will be here for the Charity Ball on Sept. 27 – dinner, music, and raffle – all done by our Leading Knight, Adrianne Troutman, and her helpers.

It is wonderful to see new people at our Lodge for dinner, music, Happy Hour, and Sunday afternoon karaoke with Larry Smith.

We have a terrific Lodge – lots of good volunteers make lots of good times and good friends!

Fraternally yours,

Herm Holtz, Your Exalted Ruler

FROM THE STATION OF THE ESTEEMED LEADING KNIGHT

Dear Members:

Here it is, September already, and the Lodge year is almost half over.  A lot of activities have been taking place each month.

September starts off with the official visit of our District Deputy, Randy Evans from Flagstaff.

We would like to encourage our members to join us at the Lodge meeting on September 4th.  Your Lodge Officers will be initiating several members into our Order.  The meeting will be opening, initiation, and closing only.

Speaking of members, it is nice to see several of our newest members taking an active part in the Lodge activities.  We welcome your participation.

We have a second official visit later in September at the annual Charity Ball on the 27th.  At that time we will have the pleasure of hosting the AEA Vice President from the South District, Al Skorupski from Tucson.  The Charity Ball is the major event to raise funds for the Children's Shopping Spree and our veterans, as well as others in the community who are in need.  Please help support with your donation and come enjoy an evening of fun, entertainment, and good food.  See you there.

Remember: “Charity is the greatest of all the virtues and it should ever rule us in our hearts and in our lives."

Adrianne Troutman

Esteemed Leading Knight

MESSAGE TO NEW MEMBERS

Congratulations on your initiation into the Elks, and welcome to Payson Lodge #2154.  I'm sure you are enjoying being a member of this Lodge and will make many new friends.

When you became a member of this Lodge, we donated $10.00 in your name to the Elks National Foundation.  You are not expected to repay this money, and any future donations on your part are strictly voluntary.  The Lodge took this action to acquaint you with the Foundation and to encourage you to continue to help the Foundation in future years.

Three outstanding qualities of the Foundation are that it is a permanent fund, the fund is raised by voluntary gifts and without compulsion of any kind and that the entire income from the fund is available for charitable purposes.

The ENF supports Drug Awareness programs, Most Valuable Student scholarship competitions, the Elks National Home, Veterans Hospitals, Vocational Grant programs, the Hoop Shoot, and many other extremely important charities.

Elks are encouraged to contribute $10.00 a year, for a total of $100.00 in ten years.  One may donate at a faster rate, if so desired.  We ask you to fill out a pledge card at your convenience.

If you have any questions, or need more information, please give us a call at (928) 474-2572.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

BECOME AN ELKS ...

The success of Elkdom is due to its Volunteers.  We want your involvement.  There are lots of committees that could use your help.  Please get involved in your Lodge.

WE NEED HELP WITH YARD WORK

The growth in the yard is getting out of hand.  With all the energy and time spent on the RV park, we do not have the time to groom the property and desperately need help.

The grounds need to be mowed, weeds need be cut or pulled, grounds need to be raked, and trees need to be groomed.  We have the equipment to do the job – 3 weed eaters and 1 riding tractor.  If you have an hour or so, please just show up anytime after 9:00 am.

Dwayne Cunningham & Dan Archer

BINGO is looking for a few really good people to work the floor for Bingo sessions.  Bingo plays on Sunday afternoons and Wednesday nights.  Training will be provided and your commitment is only one time a month.
