PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
|
Hello, HOPES --
Remember our upcoming meeting
on September 4th at 7:00 p.m.
Gerry Russell has very
graciously volunteered to be our Treasurer, and Mary Smith will serve as Editor
of the HI-HOPES page and Chair for the Friday Night Desserts. Thanks so much to
you both!
Be sure to bring your
reusable items to the Lodge for our Yard Sale on Friday, the 19th, and Saturday,
the 20th. We will need volunteers for pricing on Thursday the 18th – lunch will
be at the Lodge. The more hands we have, the faster it will be done. Mark your
calendars for 9:00 a.m. on the 18th.
See you on the 4th!
As ever,
Marilyn
Blanc, President |

THIS MONTH'S FEATURED SISTER IS:
DEBBIE EVERETT
|
|
I was born in Battle Creek,
Michigan, on November 9, 1959. I am the oldest of four children – two sisters
and one brother. At present I have ten nieces and nephews.
The family moved to Arizona
in the mid-60s. I was married at one time and blessed with a son, who is
presently in the Marine Corps. |
|
He is
married now, and will give me my first grandchild in early
December – "It's a boy!
"You will
see me at the Lodge playing bingo, and if not playing you
will hear my voice calling your numbers. This is something
I really enjoy. I also enjoy my volunteer work for the
HOPES, the Elks, and at the St. Vincent De Paul food bank.
I moved to Payson two and a half years ago, and have loved
every minute of it.
I love to
travel, love animals, and totally enjoy life to the
fullest. Simple things in life make me happy. |

ABOUT US...
Helpers Of Payson Elks
WHO WE ARE:
The H.O.P.E.S are a
charitable organization of wives, mothers, widows, unmarried sisters or
unmarried daughters over the age of 18, or significant others of an ELK in good
standing.
WHAT WE DO: Our primary purpose is to
assist the Payson Elks Lodge # 2154 in any project where our help is needed,
monetarily or otherwise. Several fundraisers are held throughout the year. The
primary recipient, of course, is Payson Elks Lodge # 2154. Donations are also
made to various local charities and other worthy causes. We volunteer our time
and efforts when needed.
MEMBERSHIP FEE:
There is a one-time
initiation fee of $10.00. Dues are $12.00 yearly, due April 1 and prorated
for any new member joining during the year. At each meeting a
"Charity Plate" is passed for small donations. A fine of 25¢ is assessed if you
fail to wear your H.O.P.E.S. ribbon pin to the meetings.
MEETINGS:
Our meetings are held the first Thursday of each month
at
7:00 p.m. (the same as Elks meetings) in the H.O.P.E.S. room in the Lodge. There is also an informal dinner at various local
restaurants (H.O.P.E.S. Night Out) on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
We invite you to attend a
meeting and get acquainted with us and hope that you will join our club, and
join in the fun and fellowship as we raise money for our various local charities
& for the betterment of the Payson Elks Lodge # 2154.
If you have any questions
please call (928) 474-2572 and ask for the H.O.P.E.S.
Membership Chairman.

9/18 at 9:00 am – Meet at the Lodge to
work on Yard Sale. We need lots of
help, ladies. Bring all items you have
for the Yard Sale to the HOPES room
first. If you have items to be picked
up, call Joyce Sanderson (472-9009).
9/18 at noon – Lunch at the Lodge. We
are having a Baked Potato Bar and Banana
Splits. If you have never enjoyed a
potato bar, you are in for a real
treat. All HOPES and guests may join,
even if you are unable to work the Yard
Sale. The charge for your great lunch
and dessert is $6.00.
There will also be door prizes.

UPCOMING FUNDRAISER FOR CHILDREN'S
SHOPPING SPREE

To raise money for the Shopping Spree,
we are going to have a special luncheon
and bingo on November 11. We will need
help for this project in several areas –
primarily for volunteers to work in the
kitchen and for set-up and clean-up –
there is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin
board at the end of the bar.
There will be a meeting of all helpers
at 4:30 p.m. on September 11 at the
Lodge. If you would like to help,
please come to the meeting.
WE ALSO NEED DOOR PRIZES. If you have
something you would like to donate, it
would be appreciated. We also need lots
of gift bags.
Let's make this a total success with a
lot of help! Thank you.
